ANAB’s ISO/IEC 17025 Lead Assessor Training course uses hands on, exercise-based approach to effectively develop and support the necessary competencies required of a lead assessor. The course was revised in response to the change of focus to competence within laboratory-related accreditation standards and is based on ISO 19011 and ISO/IEC 17011 requirements.
This Lead Assessor Training course is designed to develop the required knowledge and skills by incorporating small group exercises, course work, and case studies for hands-on learning, allowing attendees to demonstrate their competencies in the classroom, as well as on a comprehensive final examination.
Additionally, this course provides an in depth understanding of ISO/IEC 17025 requirements, with a focus on how these requirements are applicable in the operations of laboratories and how the requirements are assessed by a lead assessor.
Participants who successfully complete this training course will receive a certificate of completion. This certificate demonstrates a solid understanding of the concepts in ISO/IEC 17025:2017, required competencies of a lead assessor and the ability to lead ISO/IEC 17025 assessment teams.

This course reviews the basic concepts and accreditation requirements associated with measurement traceability, measurement assurance, and measurement uncertainty as well as their interrelationships. A basic process for the effective evaluation of a calibration service supplier or reference material producer will be discussed and participants will apply the process through a practical exercise.
Metrology terminology and basic statistics will be introduced, including a discussion on probability density functions and how they are used to quantify an uncertainty component. The NIST 8-Step Process for Estimating and Reporting Measurement Uncertainty will be presented.
Participants will put their newly acquired knowledge into practice with exercises on identifying uncertainty components, specifying the measurement process and calculating and/or estimating standard uncertainties, combined standard uncertainties, and expanded uncertainties. The course concludes with a discussion on reporting of measurement uncertainty and the importance of having sufficient knowledge about the fundamental concepts of measurement traceability, uncertainty and assurance, and statistics for effective testimony regarding measurement uncertainty.

In this course, participants will learn the four most common cause analysis techniques: Ishikawa diagrams, five whys, FMEA, and Pareto charts. The concepts for each will be reinforced by walking through an example related to the operation of a testing laboratory and reviewing the standard requirements for corrective action. Participants will also acquire skills, approaches and tools for evaluating and improving the effectiveness and efficiency of a management system through effective cause analysis and implementation of corrective actions. Exercises throughout the training demonstrate understanding of the concepts presented. While this course is designed with laboratory-specific examples, the concepts presented are applicable to many types of organizations.
Participants will also acquire skills, approaches and tools for evaluating and improving the effectiveness and efficiency of a management system through effective cause analysis and implementation of corrective actions.

This Measurement Confidence course introduces the foundational concepts of measurement traceability, measurement assurance and measurement uncertainty as well as provides a detailed review of applicable requirements from ISO/IEC 17025 and ISO/IEC 17020. Participants will learn how to establish and demonstrate metrological traceability, will review and consider various measurement assurance activities and will be provided with a practical approach for evaluating/estimating and reporting measurement uncertainty. Additionally, metrology terminology as it relates to measurement traceability and uncertainty will be discussed.

This course provides an introduction to validation and verification of analytical methods. The common elements of a validation/verification plan and a general approach to performing a validation or verification are presented. The pertinent requirements in ISO/IEC 17025 and ISO/IEC 17020 for method validation and verification are also reviewed
Validation and/or verification of methods enables us to demonstrate that the analytical methods are suitable for use and helps ensure that results are accurate, valid and reliable. Validation is the process of performing a set of experiments to establish the performance characteristics of a method to determine if the method meets the specified requirements for the intended use. In addition, method validation establishes the efficacy, reliability, and limitations of the method. Verification on the other hand, confirms that the lab can properly perform the method and that the method meets the performance characteristics as specified.

This course provides an introduction to statistical concepts and techniques used for the collection, organization, analysis, and presentation of various types of data. The course touches on both descriptive statistics and inferential statistics, including how to compute measures of central tendency and dispersion, and how to assess the relationship between two variables.
Additional topics include graphical representation of data, least squares regression and correlation, calculating probabilities and evaluating probability and sampling distributions, hypothesis testing, confidence intervals and statistical inference, and drawing conclusions about the underlying population. Practical application of these statistical concepts and techniques to various requirements in ISO/IEC 17025 and ISO/IEC 17020 will be demonstrated.
